Screen capture software provides an exciting opportunity for creating presentations including audio and video that can be shared through both synchronous and asynchronous modalities. Students and teachers can comprehensively research, document, and present a topic online in a smoothly flowing interesting manner without the possible problems of hesitation, nervousness, and technological mishaps that can mar the overall effectiveness and clarity of presentation. These productions can be submitted as assignments, or as lectures, archived and shared with all members of the class and the online internet community. In creating such presentations, I, and my students have worked with products from TechSmith http://www.techsmith.com/jing/ including Camtasia, Jing, and SnagIt, and this software is available in various formats for both Mac and PC. This software provides enhanced instructional possibilities as you can describe specific aspects of a topic verbally as you illustrate and highlight each item with your computer pointer (note the video included with this paper).
