Music/Band/Orchestra
Elementary Band Camp - CANCELED
For students entering grades 6 & 7
Dates: Monday, July 11 – Friday, July 15 Time: 9:00-11:00 AM
Location: Van Wyck JHS, Room 102 Cost: $70
The Elementary Band Camp is designed for any current student (2015-16 school year) enrolled in any elementary band program through 6th grade. This camp is open to students outside of the Wappingers Central School system as well. Band camp will provide them with the opportunity to maintain the skills they‟ve learned this year, while progressing with new challenges & skills, along with continuing their training on the fundamentals of the ensemble playing experience. It will offer them a great way to keep playing during the summer months when, so often, their instruments sit in the closet or hide under the bed, never getting any attention until September rolls around! The camp will be directed by Mr. Brainerd, an experienced WCSD band instructor. Students are expected to bring their instrument to the first day‟s workshop. A light, non-sugary snack and water are strongly suggested.

Jazz Camp – CAMP IS CLOSED
For students who have completed grades 6-12
Dates: Monday, July 18 – Friday, July 22 Time: 10:00 AM-2:00 PM
Location: Ketcham HS, Room 119 Cost: $120
Learn to play jazz this summer! Jazz Camp is an introduction to jazz for all instruments: woodwind, brass, percussion, piano, guitar & string. Students will learn to perform melodies and improvise in many styles & will also learn about the history of these styles and their role in American culture. The camp instructor, Richard Holod, has over 25 years of experience teaching jazz to students in grades 6-12. Registration fee includes all materials. LIMIT 15 STUDENTS.

Glee Club
For students entering grades 3-6
Session 1: Monday, July 11 – Friday, July 15
Session 2: Monday, July 18 – Friday, July 22
Location: Fishkill Plains ES, Cafeteria
Students will learn songs from popular Broadway shows and learn choreography to go with the songs. Each session will end with a performance by the students. Ann Sceri, the Drama Club Director at Myers Corners Elementary School, will be conducting this camp.

String Orchestra Camp
For students entering grades 6 & 7
Dates: Monday, August 1 – Friday, August 5 Time: 9:00 AM-12:00 PM
Location: Ketcham HS, Room 119 Cost: $100
String players who have completed 5th or 6th grade are welcomed to join us for a five-day string camp! Students will have the opportunity to learn a variety of music styles in both large rehearsals and small group sectionals, and will improve their skills with reading and performing music. Students will have the opportunity to attend performances by extremely talented musicians during the week. The camp will be run by Ms. Gricius, a WCSD orchestra instructor. All music will be provided by the camp. Students will be expected to bring their instrument each day, as well as water and a small snack.
Time: 9:30-11:30 AM Cost: $85 per session

Orchestra Tune-Up Camp
For students entering grades 7 & 8
Session 1: Tuesday, August 9 – Friday, August 12 Session 2: Tuesday, August 16 – Friday, August 19 Time: 9:30-11:30 AM (7th graders)
Time: 12:00-2:00 PM (8th graders)
Location: Ketcham HS, Room 119 Cost: $70 per session
This camp is for students entering 7th or 8th grade who would like to get back into playing with the help of Mrs. Stephens, orchestra director at Van Wyck & Wappingers JHS. Students will review everything they have learned to improve basic skills as well as move into more advanced skills. Students will play a variety of “fun music. This camp is great for students who need a refresher before school starts or for those that just want to get ahead! Students will need to bring Essential Elements Book 1 and 2 with them to camp. Other sheet music will be provided at camp.



Schenectady Outreach
District wide concert held at Proctors (Historic Theater).  Impressive and valuable outreach to the community.

Albany Area of NY...Features many of the local holiday programs at Christmas.  Local school programs.

Extension of traditional Holiday and Spring Concerts to other times during the year.  In January or October.  Perhaps two short concerts instead of the usual holiday offering.
