Craig Uppercue has taught for 18 years in the public-school systems of Florida from the Elementary to Collegiate levels. He serves the Volusia County School District in Florida as the K-12 Fine Arts Resource teacher supporting 275 Performing and Visual Arts faculty as district support and is a member of the Music Education faculty at Stetson University where he teaches Elementary Music Methods course and helps to supervise student teaching internships. As a Percussionist, Craig is the Music Director of the Off-Broadway National Tour - The Rock & The Rabbi and performs with the show when available. Other performing opportunities include Broadway and Off~ Broadway credits such as The Witnesses Musical (Original Cast member), The Lion King, Songs for a New World, and numerous national tours throughout the U.S. He is actively involved with many professional symphonies and maintains an active performing schedule with professional artists throughout the nation. Mr. Uppercue is also the Artistic Director of the Athens Theatre - a 450 seat Historic Theatre, located in DeLand, FL…and as of the date of this Bio - he has produced 87 Musicals and Plays at The Athens. Craig and his wonderful wife Amy live locally, enjoying every moment watching their three daughters grow up!

Clinic Details:   

 
This session will provide applicable suggestions and examples of how to employ the Chromebook in constructing and presenting Cloud-based lessons. Android audio/video apps, editing, CB selection, and connection with LMS’s will be explored.

Practical immediately applicable suggestions on how to include the Chromebook (CB) and Cloud in creating music lessons.

Valuable relevant information will include:

•Google and the Music Teacher.

•Several illustrative practical lessons offered to stimulate thinking about ways to include the CB/å Cloud in attendees teaching practice.


•Using Android music apps on your Chromebook.


•How notation, audio editing, recording, music theory and ear-training can be accomplished on the CB through the Cloud.


•Using the CB as a performance and accompaniment instrument.


•Using a CB for video access, creation, and editing.
•Selecting a CB for purchase based on your classroom needs.


•How to replace traditional classroom computers with CBs.
•How to locate and select apps that you can immediately integrate into your music curriculum.


•Considerations on how in-cloud apps can substitute for standard music software that cannot be loaded on a CB.


•A Location Library for information access and quick retrieval will be provided.

About the Presenter
Dr. Fred Kersten is currently and has been for twelve years an Online Graduate Facilitator for Boston University. He works with graduate music education majors around the world who are completing their masters and doctorate degrees in music education. Presently he is Instructor-In-Charge of online music technology courses offered by BU. Fred holds five degrees in music and music education.
